Working With Nails challenges traditional notions of masculinity by comparing elements associated with gender stereotypes. Using a wooden pallet as a projector screen, I projected a video loop depicting someone hammering nails with brightly painted blue nails. This highlights the difference between the traditional masculine act of carpentry and the traditionally feminine act of nail painting. The broken piece of the pallet board symbolizes breaking free of these norms and moving towards a path of gender equality. By combining these elements, I hope to create a dialog about the limitations created by traditional gender constructs.
